Hats Off!

The hat is a huge trend currently in women's wear. I've never been a "hat" girl, especially one of those that looks adorable in a baseball cap & pony. I thought I would give this one a try though, as it can work with a lot of outfits...I'm glad I did, because now I love it!

If you're not quite ready for a huge floppy hat, this one is a perfect option, and at $16 from dressbarn you cannot go wrong.
The rest of this look is comfy casual and is ready for a fun summer day! I just purchased this lightweight peach blouse from dressbarn. I love that it works perfectly paired with light-wash jeans or white pants.

Since this peach goddess is a bit too blousy for the look I was going for I simply used a hair-tie to fix it. Yes, a hair-tie. It is super easy and a very quick fix. I just gathered the extra fabric put a hair-tie around it and tucked in under and.. voila!!
These distressed skinny jeans are so comfortable! I have been looking for a pair, and came across these at ZARA. I love that they are a classic wash and fit that I can put with a lot of pieces. It all comes down to versatility. When it comes to jeans all you really need are two great jeans in your closet...a light-wash and a dark-wash and you're set!

My favorite thing about my accessories? This turquoise ring that doesn't stick as much with the creamy neutrals of this look. On the opposite end I chose this clutch, because it was matchy matchy with my hat...haha

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! Will you give a hat a try this summer?

marvelous Magenta

A pop of color is always good for any outfit, especially when it's spring or summer, right? I got home late last from my trip to the dressbarn home office, which is absolutely beautiful by the way. It is so bright, welcoming, and trendy! I had a wonderful two days with a team of inspiring women, and boy was I tired this morning!

It has been a while (Okay.... like 5 days but still), since I have visited a local thrift store, so before the gym today I thought I should check it out. Salvation Army is still offering their adult clothing for 99 cents per piece. I found a pair of ae jeans, jcrew t, and this gorgeous dress from Banana Republic. Yes, you read that correctly, the dress was only 99 cents!

I looovee the color of the dress. I think I was particularly drawn to it, because I do not have much of this color in my closet already. It was a tad bit big, so I chose to cinch it in with a skinny belt.

These cognac sandals were found at TJ Maxx and were only $15! I feel like this was a good price, because normally their shoes are at least $25 or more. I can see myself getting a lot of use out of them this summer!

To create a true "pop" with this look I went with my favorite mint necklace. I wanted to create a fun, but classy summer look for today's outfit. Pictured above is my brother & I earlier this evening. My mom, Michael, and I went to see Jurassic World (which I loved) before having dinner together. Since he lives in Dallas now, it was nice to be able to spend some time together!

Splurge vs Steal

happy shoesday tuesday!

Today was a gorgeous day to be out and about! I had the pleasure of having lunch at Noodles with a friend that I haven't seen in far too long, Jacob. As always the conversation flowed & I had a wonderful time. He was showing me his new vehicle & managed to lock the keys in the car with it running!! eeek (everyone's worst nightmare right?!) The window was cracked a teeny bit, and suddenly it hit him...chopsticks! He went inside and taped four chopsticks together, and was able to finagle them through the small crack to hit the power window button--talk about genius!

I spent the latter part of the afternoon at the movies with Shayne. We saw "Spy." It definitely had lots of funny moments, but boy was there a lot of swearing. Normally it doesn't bother me, but it was quite excessive. Regardless of that I would recommend it if you are looking for a fun comedy to see!

As you all know I am a hugggeee fan of finding a great deal, whether it be a great sale or a thrifted find. Today one of the many style challenges on Instagram included posting a picture of an ensemble or item found at a steal vs splurge price. Today my entire look was thrifted, or found second-hand online!

A plain black dress, especially one that is lightweight, is perfect for any day! I love wearing this one during the fall and winter with a leopard print scarf, tights, and boots. Transitional pieces are so essential to any wardrobe! Would you believe I got this dress for $1.24 from Salvation Army last summer?! For the past month or so they have been offering all adult clothing for only 99 cents for each piece! I looked briefly at the store this morning, but left empty-handed. Rather than wearing a long necklace with it, I chose to accentuate the dress with a leopard print skinny belt. I happened to find the belt at a second-hand store for $1.80.

To continue the leopard theme I chose this leopard print bag from Kate Spade. Although I also found this second-hand online, it was the splurge piece in my outfit. I paid around $60 for it (still far below retail), which I think is a good price! As I said it is shoesday tuesday and these tan sandal wedges are amaazing. They are from Kohl's originally, but I found them online for only $12 via Poshmark. The tie-up style in sandals and wedges is once again very popular this season, and I am so happy I can embrace this trend at a great price!

I hope you all had a great day!!

Rattlesnake

I woke up this morning to gloomy skies, and shortly after rain began falling upon the earth. (Not exactly a fun start to the day if you are a senior graduating from high school today.) As soon as I got out of church I was surprised to see the sun shining & the only moisture left was the humidity in the air. It has shaped up to be a pretty nice Sunday!
Today's look is focused around neutrals; particularly this snake-print blazer from dressbarn. It is currently on sale for $22. I love that it can be used to dress up a pair of light-wash denim or be worn more professionally with a pair of black pants for a fun look at the office. Underneath I chose a basic white tank with this fringe necklace from the dressbar jewelry collection at dressbarn. It is a much shorter style of necklace so I tied a piece of string on each end to extend it (purchasing necklace extenders is always a good idea, but when in a pinch string works great), because I wanted it to hang down rather than sit inside my neckline.
Sticking to the neutral theme are these sandals & Michael Kors handbag. Although I spent a bit more on this bag than I normally do (I love to find amaa-ziinngg deals), I have gotten lots and lots of use out of it so far! These wedge sandals from dressbarn have become one of my summer favorites. I am going to be ordering another pair of them soon, since they are so comfortable & perfect with nearly any outfit!

Cobalt, Stripes, and Everything Nice

It is June 1st! It is crazy to think that summer is right around the corner. The days are lasting longer, the temps are getting warmer, and spending time outdoors is getting better & better.
Yesterday I spent my morning and early afternoon as the Baymont Beauty <3 (manning the front desk at the Baymont). I needed to chose a look that was professional, but yet fun & trendy. The ensemble I chose is centered around this black and white striped blazer. Guess where I got it from?...Goodwill! It was only $6.99 and even had the tags still attached--I was a happy camper!
A pop of extra pattern is always good, so I chose this leopard print belt. Leopard works very well with stripes and polka dots if you are looking to mix patterns :)
