9.30.2015

WOW! It is hard to believe that today is the last day of September already. Today is Wednesday, #wadw (Wear a Dress Wednesday), that is.
This scuba gathered a-line dress is everything...and more, because it has pockets! I'm not entirely sure what genius started the pocket trend in dresses the past few years, but thank you thank you thank you!

Every dress like this deserves a great pair of booties like these from dressbarn. Would you believe I scored these for only $12, on clearance from last winter? :)

Now that fall is upon us, this moto jacket is perfect for brisk days, and cool evenings.
This gorgeous dress is from dressbarn! An a-line dress works wonders for ladies with just about any shape.
The flared skirt helps balance out a larger upper half by creating more volume on the bottom. It helps to create the illusion of curves for ladies who have a straight figure. For ladies who are larger on the bottom, the a-line skirt flows right over the hips. See, it's a win win, right?
Hopefully you had a fabulous Wednesday!

#FALLINGforbooties and maroon

I've teamed up with six amazing bloggers this week to show you different ways to style maroon & booties, two of fall's must have trends.

I've shown two ways to style this poncho and oxblood coated denim look. By switching up the booties, bag, and neck candy this look can easily be transitioned from dressy to casual. For the dressier look I chose a dressbar statement necklace from dressbarn.Since I wanted a longer style necklace I simply tied a thin piece of string to either side, and voila I can have it whatever length I choose!
Let's talk about these booties shall we? Do you see why this is the dressy look? Studs, Leather, Heels, OH MY! They work perfectly with the coated denim. This look would be something I would put together for a night out to dinner or with friends.

To dress down this look I chose a patterned scarf from dressbarn. This would be something I would wear out to breakfast on my weekend off. Although I love this scarf, nearly any color would work with the neutral color of the sweater!
I switched up the booties to these cute leopard ones that are one of my recent thrifted finds. These are originally from Forever 21, and they were scored for only $5 :)
As you can see it is super easy to take a look from dressy to casual or vice versa! Simple switches such as accessories and shoes can do the trick. Take a look at how the amazing ladies below styled maroon & booties!

9.20.15

It is crazy to think that fall will officially be in full swing in a very short time! Today was a beautiful Sunday, so I chose to embrace the warm temperatures in a summer dress.
I usually love a big statement, but in this look the color does all the talking. This dress is from dressbarn, a piece I scored for under $10 last year!
Part of why I love this dress so much other than the price and color of course, is the way it works to flatter! Ladies, dresses with lines and texture like this can give the optical illusion of a smaller waist. See above how the lines work diagonally? It works to draw the eye, rather than having only horizontal lines, which often widen. It's a great way to do "stripes" and flatter at the same time :)
I chose accessories that focused around neutrals and animal prints to complement the bright color of the dress, but not take away from it. The gold, pave, and tortoise shell link necklace has been something I have gotten lots of use out of. It makes a great piece to layer with other necklaces when looking to make a statement.

Hope you've all had a wonderful weekend!
