Chambray all Day

Happy Friday! Today it was crazy windy (like over 30 mph). After being at the gym this morning I determined it really didn't pay to do my hair so a messy pony it was!

Denim on Denim has been seen all over as a trend, but believe me I will never take it as far as the JT & Brittney look (oh my) from a few years ago. For today's look I chose a lightwash chambray blouse from Target, and a slightly darker distressed pair of jeans from ZARA. You can do denim on denim as long as a) you feel confident in it, and b) you have the right denim on denim hues :)

Originally I was going to go very simple without a necklace, but I could not get the collar on this top to lay correctly so I buttoned it up and chose one of my favorite statement necklaces from dressbarn's dressbar jewelry collection last spring.

To stick with the casual vibe I chose a cute pair of lace-up wedge booties from Kohl's. I scored these today for under $20!

Hopefully you didn't blow away today!

The Day of Love

Valentine's Day...traditionally the day of showing that special someone you care about love, affection, and a little something extra than you would on a normal day. This weekend was pretty low key with Shayne & I and I am A-Okay with that! I always appreciate all that he does for me and the wonderful way he treats me everyday!

Today I chose one of my favorite sleeved dresses for church and time with my family this afternoon. It was a deal & steal from Kohl's last year. At first I really didn't care for the pattern, but it has definitely grown on me! If you look close enough you may be able to see that it embraces this year's colors of the year: Rose Quartz & Serenity.

Hopefully you had a wonderful weekend!

Nude + Blush

Happy February! Today has been a gorgeous day, and even though it was really only 27 degrees, it felt like 40 because of the sun shining in my face. I met my friend Jacob for lunch downtown so I wanted today's look to be chic, but yet casual.
A dress is always an easy, go-to, throw on, perfect piece to start your look with. I found this stunning nude sequin dress (with pockets) at Target last night for under $9 (online return).
Over the dress I chose a light wash jean jacket (thrifted for $10), accessorized with a snakeskin bronze clutch (thrifted <$1) and wooden "tooth" necklace (Boston Store, $15), and finished the look with Jennifer Lopez shimmering neutral/bronze booties (thrifted for $15). All of these finishing touches dress down this sequin frock, and make it more practical for being out and about in.
This gorgeous sequin dress is dressy enough for any special event, but I wanted to show how I would play off the dressy style for a nice dinner or wedding.
I chose a blush/neutral lightweight dress coat (forever 21 $15), blush snakeskin heels (Goodwill $5), and statement necklace (Wal-Mart $5) to compliment this somewhat more dressy look.

Have a fabulous end to your week!

1.23.16

Saturday after work I spent the evening in Milwaukee having dinner with Maranda (who's birthday it was) and shopping (I found some pretty great deals). I wanted an outfit that would be both comfortable to take on and off as I was trying things on, but also was cute for dinner.
As I've said previously I have been so into pastels and neutrals lately, especially for the winter season (and there's more to come of it!) This jacket serves as the color for this look, and is from dressbarn made of vegan leather.
The jacket has faux suede lapels, but each time I've worn the jacket I have chosen to tuck under the lapels. Why you may ask? My body shape is slightly larger on the top, so the lapels of the jacket tend to broaden my shoulders even more. By folding it under it helps to eliminate this widening.
Underneath I chose the most perfect white cami you will ever own in your closet! It is called the Barcelona Cami and it's from Express. They are a bit steep for my taste at $40, but are always BOGO anndddd wait for it.. they are reversible! This version is white on white, but there are so many cute color combos and even some pattern options to chose from!

How cute are these jeans?! They are from Target originally, but are one of my many #thriftscores at under $10 :) This cream Michael Kors bag was also a #thriftscore at $20 from Goodwill!

Hopefully you're having a great week!

Risky Business

When you think of the word risky what thoughts come to mind? You may ponder words such as daredevil, not a sure thing, trouble, eek!

Today's look brings me back to the 80's (not that I was even alive in that decade..) and some risky business (because it's a bit out of my fashion norm) and I'm fine with that.
What's the risky part about this look? The faux leather moto jacket with fringe back (business in the front, party in the back, and no I'm not referring to the mullet here). The fringe trend has been huge for quite some time now, and I have seen so many amazing bloggers sporting fringe jackets, but every one I seemed to come across while thrifting was truly out of the 80's and the fit was quite off. I was so excited to find this black piece in a newly shipped assortment from Target to Goodwill for only $6.99 NWT!

Underneath the jacket I chose one of my favorite leopard print dresses from dressbarn...black and white..it works any time of year!
Have a great week!

Naturally Neutral & Blushing

Happy Saturday! The snow is falling softly outside of my window, and I'm thinking about the beauty that the white snow captures as it lands upon the earth. Today's look is all about embracing neutrals (which compliment the snow nicely), and one of Pantone's colors of the year: rose quartz.

This jacket is part of the Lauren Conrad Runway collection from Kohls, and it serves as the only source of color for this look. I've been so into neutrals and pastels lately, because they are crisp, clean, and work for anytime of year!

  This dress is a
gorgeous cream lace with nude under-layer from dressbarn, it is available in a rich green as well (which I may just have to snag up).

To stick with the neutral theme I chose a very light lip by YSL, and a light brown shadow.

Have a great rest of your Saturday!
