1.23.16

Saturday after work I spent the evening in Milwaukee having dinner with Maranda (who's birthday it was) and shopping (I found some pretty great deals). I wanted an outfit that would be both comfortable to take on and off as I was trying things on, but also was cute for dinner.
As I've said previously I have been so into pastels and neutrals lately, especially for the winter season (and there's more to come of it!) This jacket serves as the color for this look, and is from dressbarn made of vegan leather.
The jacket has faux suede lapels, but each time I've worn the jacket I have chosen to tuck under the lapels. Why you may ask? My body shape is slightly larger on the top, so the lapels of the jacket tend to broaden my shoulders even more. By folding it under it helps to eliminate this widening.
Underneath I chose the most perfect white cami you will ever own in your closet! It is called the Barcelona Cami and it's from Express. They are a bit steep for my taste at $40, but are always BOGO anndddd wait for it.. they are reversible! This version is white on white, but there are so many cute color combos and even some pattern options to chose from!

How cute are these jeans?! They are from Target originally, but are one of my many #thriftscores at under $10 :) This cream Michael Kors bag was also a #thriftscore at $20 from Goodwill!

Hopefully you're having a great week!

Risky Business

When you think of the word risky what thoughts come to mind? You may ponder words such as daredevil, not a sure thing, trouble, eek!

Today's look brings me back to the 80's (not that I was even alive in that decade..) and some risky business (because it's a bit out of my fashion norm) and I'm fine with that.
What's the risky part about this look? The faux leather moto jacket with fringe back (business in the front, party in the back, and no I'm not referring to the mullet here). The fringe trend has been huge for quite some time now, and I have seen so many amazing bloggers sporting fringe jackets, but every one I seemed to come across while thrifting was truly out of the 80's and the fit was quite off. I was so excited to find this black piece in a newly shipped assortment from Target to Goodwill for only $6.99 NWT!

Underneath the jacket I chose one of my favorite leopard print dresses from dressbarn...black and white..it works any time of year!
Have a great week!

Naturally Neutral & Blushing

Happy Saturday! The snow is falling softly outside of my window, and I'm thinking about the beauty that the white snow captures as it lands upon the earth. Today's look is all about embracing neutrals (which compliment the snow nicely), and one of Pantone's colors of the year: rose quartz.

This jacket is part of the Lauren Conrad Runway collection from Kohls, and it serves as the only source of color for this look. I've been so into neutrals and pastels lately, because they are crisp, clean, and work for anytime of year!

  This dress is a
gorgeous cream lace with nude under-layer from dressbarn, it is available in a rich green as well (which I may just have to snag up).

To stick with the neutral theme I chose a very light lip by YSL, and a light brown shadow.

Have a great rest of your Saturday!

1.5.2016

Happy Tuesday! Today was my day off so I chose to be comfy and casual. Comfy & casual doesn't have to be frumpy and bumpy however. Any casual look can still be put together and accessorized quite effortlessly.
I chose a light-wash pair of distressed jeans from Zara (under $50!). They have lots of stretch (which can be a bad thing if you don't have a belt handy), so they move with me rather than feeling stiff and uncomfortable.

A cream t shirt (from Target on clearance for $2) is an essential in every wardrobe. It is the perfect basic to throw under a dress coat (as I did today), a moto jacket, or wear as-is with a long necklace or scarf.
Seeing as it finally got cold in Sheboygan this week, a blanket scarf provided the perfect amount of warmth today. Although so many ladies have cut their scarves that are similar in half (because they are soooo big) I prefer the volume, especially when it is colder outside!

See, casual can be put together! All I did was take a t-shirt & jeans and put on a scarf, earrings, dress coat, and heeled booties.
 Have a great week!

Fringe on NYE

Happy 2016! Wow, it's hard to believe that 2015 is over and we are on to a brand new year. Hopefully you are all ready to embrace the new year & all the exciting changes that the year may bring!
I worked for a majority of the day before Shayne and I spent the evening at friend's home to celebrate 2015. Although most people think sequins are a must for NYE, I chose to embrace the fringe trend instead, and stuck to a classic color scheme of black, white, and gold.

Fringe Tassel Earrings (old), Black jacket (old) & Black Fringe Skirt (available here): H&M

Black Fringe Clutch (old) & Blouse (old): dressbarn

Black leather booties with fringe (available now): Sam Edelman at TJ Maxx
Here's to a happy, heathy, safe, and wonderful 2016!
